Dubawa kickstarts fourth edition of the Kwame Karikari Fact-Checking and Research Fellowship
On Monday, 5th December, Dubawa, West Africa’s independent verification and the fact-checking platform started its fourth session of the Kwame Karkari Fact-checking and Research Fellowship.
During the induction program, fellows would undergo a four-day intense virtual fact-checking training that would equip them with the required skills for the three-month fellowship. The fellowship is set to fully commence in January 2023 and would end in March 2023.
Dubawa’s main objective is to fight against widespread information disorder in the West African sub-region and beyond.
The 21 participants are from Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Liberia, and The Gambia. Through the fellowship, fellows would receive theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and a one-on-one project mentorship by the Dubawa team. Additional support would be given to fellows to set up fact-checking desks in their newsrooms.
This fellowship is organized by the Centre for Journalism and Innovation through its fact-checking project Dubawa, with support from National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
